It’s kinda funny that what intrigued me to listen to the classic rock Eagles song Witchy Woman was the cool little logo on the label of that old vinyl 45. I was definitely curious what a song titled Witchy Woman might be about, but that picture of a door suspended in the sky on the label was even more intriguing. Between that and a cool band name like The Eagles, it had to be pretty good right ? Yes, it was ! Witchy Woman just became my new favorite song from the very first downbeat. I had never heard anything like it. As of right then, this was one of the best songs of all time. It was like a rock n roll native American pow wow meets dark and spooky power ballad or something. It was just so unique. I was really diggin that tom tom groove. The pow wow thing really resonated with me big time, as a kid growing up watching all those old westerns. I was totally entranced by all of it. The lyrics about a mysterious, alluring woman shooting sparks from her fingertips who drove herself mad. Are you kidding me ? All of it was seriously just so captivating, it blew me away. The music, the lyrics, everything. Literally, my consciousness was altered, and I was transported to some fantasy world within my own mind. I guess Witchy Woman had cast her spell on me! I had no idea what drugs even were back then, but somehow this song completely mezmerized me and just kinda made me go "Far Out Man !" This was way more of a head trip than Rock On by David Essex. The Eagles' classic rock song Witchy Woman was definitely one of the first stepping stones on the path of "I want to do that too. I want to learn about music." I think it opened up creative pathways within me that I didn' t know were there. Thanks Eagles !
